The World Poker tour also broadcasts a number of additional Poker tournaments taking place throughout the world. The Caribbean Poker Adventure is one such stand alone Poker tournament which commands considerable air time on the world Poker Tour. Originally sponsored by Pokerstars, the CPA is one of the biggest independent Poker competitions in the world (apart from WSP and WPT). The event began in 2004, and the last event held in 2009 had registered a handsome headcount of 1400+. The last event held at a resort in the Bahamas had given away a cash prize of $3,000,000 and the winner of this tournament was Poorya Nazari. There are a number of other Poker tournaments which are covered in by the World Tour of Poker, but unlike the CPA, most are held in conjunction with the main event and are not stand alone, independent tournaments. Examples of such adjunct events include the LA Poker Classic at commerce casino, the World Poker Challenge at the Grand Sierra and the Legends of Poker, held at the Bicycle Casino.
